An Apple a Day: Psalm 39: 6-7 (NIV)
Psalm 39:6-7 (NIV)
6) Man is a mere phantom as he goes to
and fro: He bustles about, but only in
vain; he heaps up wealth, not knowing
who will get it.
7) But now, Lord, what do I look for?
My hope is in you.
All that matters at the end of our life
is not how many posessions we have,
or how much money is in our bank
account. What matters is whether or
not we are ready to be received by
Jesus in heaven. Do you know Him?

An Apple a Day: Titus 3:4-6
~4) But when the kindness and love of God
our Savior appeared,5) he saved us, not
because of righteous things we had done,
but because of his mercy. He saved us
through the washing of rebirth and renewal
by the Holy Spirit, 6)whom he poured out
on us generously through Jesus Christ our
Savior, 7) so that, having been justified by
his grace, we might become heirs having
the hope of eternal life.
Salvation is a gift to everyone who will
simply accept it and recieve it! We do not
have to work for salvation. God sent His
Son, Jesus to die for each one of us. Our
debts were paid then. Our sins were washed
away then. All we have to do is open our
hearts and minds and ask Jesus to come
live within us. We must confess that we
know we are sinners, but that we know
Jesus paid for our sins on the cross. We
are not debtors. We are the recipients of
the greatest gift ever given, Jesus'
unconditional love and forgiveness. Why
would anyone refuse this free gift? I
don't understand.

An Apple a Day: on "Trust"
~ Trust ~
STOOP-shouldered,
foot-dragging,
sighing
resignation
is NOT trust.
Real trust
bounces on eager toes of
anticipation--
laughs with pure delight
of knowing
in whom it believes-
rests easy knowing
on whom it waits.
Lord,
so wrap me in the
knowledge of You
that my trust is no longer in You,

An Apple a Day Romans 8:32 (NIV)
Romans 8:32
32) He who did not spare his own Son,
but gave him up for us all -- how will
he not also, along with Him, graciously
give us all things?
Don't let feelings of false guilt creep in
if you are experiencing a time of
traipsing through lush meadows,
drenching you in warm sunshine.
God's kingdom is not about earning
and deserving, but one of believing
and receiving!
Enjoy the good blessings God gives
you and thank him!

Do you feel happy today?
This morning I woke up to a gorgeous Saturday
morning. The sun was brightly shining in my
living room with the already pale yellow walls.
It was so cheerful. I began to thank the Lord
for all of the blessings he has given to me in
my life.
I confess and (God knows) I don't always feel
this happy or thankful. So my feelings on this
day is very special to me! I struggle with
depression, but I am learning how to let it go
and let God have my negative feelings. It's
about time since I am fifty. I admit, I'm a slow
learner.
But today, I feel so blessed and secure in God's
love...it is truly wonderful. Thank you Lord!
The following verse is what I will be meditating
on today!
Hebrews 12:2-3 (NIV)
~2) Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and
perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before
him endured the cross, scorning its shame,
and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3) Consider him who endured such opposition from
sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and
lose heart.

we survive the tough times. Reach out

An Apple a Day:Hebrews 4:14-16 (NIV)
~14) Therefore, since we have a great high
priest who has gone through the heavens,
Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly
to the faith we profess. 15) For we do not
have a high priest who is unable to
sympathize with our weaknesses, but we
have one who has been tempted in every
way, just as we are--yet was without sin.
16) Let us then approach the throne of
grace with confidence, so that we may
receive mercy and find grace to help us in
our time of need.
My desire is to be aware continuously of
God's presence with me. These verses
tell me that I do not need to let feelings
of failure weigh me down. Jesus under
stands how we are tempted, because he
was tempted in every way, just as we are
as stated in verse 15 above. This world
we live in has been rigged to distract us.
God recognizes and rejoices each time
we initiate communication with him, and
become aware of his presence, we
have achieved a victory. Every time
we lose sight of Jesus' presence with us,
just bring your focus back to him and
move on. Rejoice in your tiny triumphs...

~3. Even the sparrow has found a home and

We are no different than the sparrow. After

1)The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2) He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3) he restores my soul.
I love these verses. It reminds me to
whenever possible; to rest in the presence
of my Shepherd. How crazy is this world
when people "feel guilty" about meeting the
basic need of rest and peace that God built
into our being.
We need to rest and depend more on God, and
he will shower Peace on all our paths.
Have a blessed day.~
An Apple a Day: Psalm 21:6 (NIV)
Psalm 21:6 (NIV)
"Surely you have granted him
eternal blessings and made him
glad with the joy of your
presence."
No matter what your circumstances
are today, you can find Joy in God's
presence. It is easy on days that
are good and happy! The test comes
when your days are overcast and gloomy;
and you feel the strain of the day, which
seems endless.
But remember, this day is not a chance
occurrence, God created this day. God is
with you even when you don't sense him.
Joy is attainable! Search for it as for hidden
treasure! Talk to God about your day, and soon
your load will lighten, and joy will seep into
your day. Be aware of God's presence with you
and embrace joy as it returns to you!
Hope you have a blessed day!

"Naked I came from my mother's womb,
and naked I will depart. The Lord gave
and the Lord has taken away; may the
name of the Lord be praised."
Job went through many troubles, yet
he did not sin by charging God with
wrongdoing.
Ask God today to bring to your awareness
any resentful attitude you may be harboring.
Ask God to free you from them.
When God thwarts our hopes or takes
something from you, it is best to not
hold resentment, but remember that every
thing you have are gifts from God. We
are not entitled to anything that is ours, but
should feel gratitude for them. We must
be "prepared" to let go of anything God
takes from us. But don't ever let go of
God's hand!

An Apple a Day: James 4:14 (NIV)
~"Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow.
What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a
little while and then vanishes."
This is so true. We are only alive for a short while when
compared to eternity. I'm trying to live "just in the
present moment" and not look back or forward, just
at today, now, this moment. For indeed, we are not
promised our next breath, so let us live each moment
as if it were our last. Have a blessed moment!

Today Has Been a True Blessing!
Today was a very good day, and a busy day! My church (Restoration off of I-26 in Spartanburg, SC) is having it's 2nd annual "Girlfriends" event tomorrow evening. The first one was awesome, and I'm very excited about this one! I went this morning to help decorate for the event tomorrow. There were many volunteers there and it is an amazing feeling to be in the company of such loving and caring Christian women. We all worked together harmoniously and joyfully and was finished in record time. I am really thankful for a church that has so many friendly and compassionate people! We had a great lunch together (thanks Cathy!)and I left feeling truly blessed!
Next, I was in the company of my Parkie friends at Summit Hills Retirement in Spartanburg. Another group of very happy and optimistic people! It was the first PD exercise class that Summit Hills has graciously started for the Spartanburg Parkinson's support group! They are going to provide a class "Muscles in Motion" for us every 1st and 3rd Thursday, followed by snacks and fellowship. The Spartanburg PD Support group meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at the Chapman Cultural Center for a Parkie dance class graciously taught by Carlos, our instructor! After the 30 minute class the support group "meet" and different resource providers and speakers inform us on various topics concerning Parkinson's. I have met so many new friends and I thank God for bringing such caring people into my life.
Today, I feel especially joyful and Blessed!Thank you Lord!

An Apple a Day: 2 Corinthians 16-18 (NIV)
~~16) Therefore we do not lose heart.
Though outwardly we are wasting away,
yet inwardly we are being renewed day
by day. 17) For our light and momentary
troubles are achieving for us an eternal
glory that far outweighs them all. 18) So,
we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but
on what is unseen. For what is seen is
temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Reminder for everyone (especially me)
Everything we suffer and endure here
on earth is for only a brief time when
compared to eternity. "This too shall
pass."

A big hello and welcome to my blog, Life Matters!
I want to share my exciting (or not) Sunday with you.
I must say it was exciting when I woke up this morning!
I'm thankful every morning the Lord lets me wake up and
I tell him so!
This morning started with my favorite cereal, Honey Bunches of Oats
with Almonds! Did you know this cereal only has 6 grams of
sugar per serving. The average cereals have 12+grams up to 20+grams
of sugar. Plus this cereal tastes great. I add in some raisins for their
sweet taste and I love raisins!
Next, I went to my home church Restoration and heard wonderful
praise and worship and a helpful message from my Pastor.
McDonalds for lunch - $1 large diet coke, $1.99 Grilled chicken wrap (with
Honey Mustard dressing) and a yogurt/fruit parfait! It is possible to
eat healthy at McDonalds!
Home for the remainder of the day. Watched Carolina Panther/New Orleans
game and my Panthers won!! 35-27
Napped after, ...... and the rest is pretty much the same. I rested on
the Sabbath! Busy week coming! I am looking forward to it!

An Apple a Day: Psalm 45:1 (NKJV)
~Psalm 45:1
"My heart is overflowing with a good theme;
I recite my composition concerning the king;
My tongue is the pen of a ready writer."
This last line really spoke to me in this
verse. My/our tongues should always
speak of good things because IF Jesus
is my/our King, our mind should always
find the good in every situation and
claim it with our speech..!!..
"Help me/us to remember and practice
this good habit." Amen.

An Apple a Day: by Andy Andrews:Elephants, Mosquitoes, and Going the Extra Mile

Elephants, Mosquitoes, and Going the Extra Mile

Have you ever been bitten by an elephant?
Have you?
Okay, I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that most of you reading this answered no to that question. But let me ask you another one:
Have you ever been bitten by a mosquito?
I’m going to assume everyone’s answer for this one is yes. And do you want to know why? Because it’s always the small stuff that will get you.
This silly little question exercise is something that the character Jones uses in my book The Noticer. It’s all part of a larger lesson on something that I think is of vital importance for everyone to learn—how to make “going the extra mile” your normal.
We always hear the phrase “go the extra mile,” but what exactly does it mean? Well, there are two factors that must become part of your behavior if you want that phrase to apply to you:
1. Sweat the small stuff (the “mosquitoes” of life).
Many people ignore the small stuff (I’m sure you’ve heard the common expression, “Don’t sweat the small stuff”) and claim they have their eye on the big picture. But what they fail to understand is that the small stuff is what makes up the larger picture of our lives.
The beautiful masterpiece you want your life to be is composed of tiny brush strokes, little actions and choices, that happen day after day, hour after hour, and even minute after minute.
Paying attention to the small stuff means attending to the people, events, and relationships in your life with an uncommon attention to detail. It means consistently doing the second step of going the extra mile:
2. Consistently doing more than is expected of you.

His answer was simple. He told me, “I have always demanded more of myself than anyone else could have ever expected.”
No one expected him to do the things he did, to practice like he did, to stay as late and work as hard as he did. He demanded it of himself. He demanded more than anyone could have ever expected.
Now, I know most of us aren’t professional basketball players, but this can easily be applied to all areas of life, no matter what you do or who you are. If you demanded more of yourself than anyone else could ever expect, what would your life be like? Who would you become?
If you demanded more of yourself than anyone else could ever expect, how would you act? What would you do? How would you feel? Can you picture it? Going the extra mile—no matter what—starts with you and your expectations for yourself.
So what expectations do you have for yourself right now? What expectations do you have for yourself as a parent? What expectations do you have for yourself as a spouse? As a businessperson or as a friend? What expectations do you have for yourself as a citizen in your community and country? What are some new expectations you could develop that will make you not only better, but will also make you truly exceptional in each of these areas?
Think about it…are you ready to go the extra mile? If so, how are you going to do so?
