Check out these Freebies!

Free Sears Halloween Portrait Collage
Not content with giving away free toys on Halloween (more on that soon!), Sears is also giving away a free Halloween-themed portrait collage worth $44! You’ve got until Saturday, October 31 to use the coupon and the fine print says nothing about making an additional purchase.* So if your kid looks especially cute in their costume this year (and come on, how can they not?), you might want to take advantage of this.

CVS currently has Campbell’s soup on sale for 2/$1. Coupons.com is hosting a free $1/2 coupon (IE link) (FF link), meaning you can get free Campbell’s soup! CVS has a limit of 6 cans, so if you have access to multiple computers, print out a few extra coupons.

I don’t know about you, but it’s gray, dreary, and rainy where I live and soup sounds fantastic for lunch. Now if I can just find a store giving away free grilled cheese sandwiches, I’d be in business.

Get a New Look : Shop your Closet

It's free!  Shop your closet.  Chances are you'll find things you didn't remember having.  This season is going to focus on the 80's retro accessories.  Without spending a cent, glam it up with gold earrings and necklaces or with high shine metallic belts and purses.  For a more casual look, slip off your socks and slip into a preppy pair of penny loafers!  Look in your closet and think back to the 1980's and you may just find something that is back in style this fall/winter season.

One more tip:  According to the  latest magazines, Natural looking hair color is the trend this season.  Stay away from stripy highlights and go for a bold, natural brown, like Clairol Natural Instincts; shade 20.

Fall Home Checklist

Check it out! Fall is here and that means doing some maintenance around your home. It may take some elbow grease or even paying a repair company, but it’s sure to save you money in the end.

There’s a site called Angie’s List, www.angieslist.com. It has consumer ratings of local service companies. The founder, Angie Hicks, has come up with a list that will help all of us get ready for cooler weather.

* Service your heating system. As much as 80% of emergency calls answered by heating specialists are the result of improper maintenance. Get an appointment and beat the rush.

* Check and replace filters. That will distribute heat better and cut your energy costs.

* Protect your pipes. Have your plumbing looked at and water lines insulated.

* Drain water from your water heater. You can improve your water heater’s efficiencey by 50 percent by draining sediment build up from the holding tank.

* Add insulation This is one of the lowest cost options for improving energy efficiency at home.

* Seal drafts. Caulk, seal, and weather-strip wehre drafts are detected.

* Schedule a chimney sweep. Build-up can lead to a chimney fire.

* Check your gutters. Blockage of dead leaves and other debris can cause serious water damage.

* Rake up the leaves. They will deprive your grass of sunlight during fall months. THey can lead to mold growth and provide a breeding ground for pests.

* Car inspection. Summer travel takes a toll on your car. Schedule a maintenance check so you’re ready for the long winter months. Also, put an emergency kit in your trunk.

*Invest now, save later!

Coupons for Toys

Christmas will be here before we know it. Are you ready? Chances are your kids or grandkids are already thinking about what to write on the lists. That’s why it’s a good idea to get that shopping started.

If you think coupons are just for groceries, think again. Visit http://www.coupons.com/ for more than a dozen coupons on popular Hasbro toys. These are oldies but goodies like the “Sit n Spin,” “Mr. Potato Head,” and the “Gloworm.” The coupons range from $2 to $10 off. It’s definitely worth checking it out. Plus the coupons are good through the entire holiday season. That may mean you can hit a good sale and use those coupons for even better savings

Save $$ on Grocery Store Staples

Hi,
Here are a few tips on saving on the staples you buy often.

1. Buy butter and milk when they are on sale, and put them in freezere. Milk can be frozen for up to 3 months. Butter will last in freezer 6 to  9 months.

2. Check out the convenience stores.  They sell milk, soda and other items sometimes for less to entice drivers to stop there for fuel.

3.  Forget brand loyalty! Use coupons for unfamiliar brands to save money.  Store brands are often even less expensive.  There is usually no taste difference between name brands and off or store brands.

4. Stock up on cereal when it's on sale and when you have a coupon. Combine the two and buy several.  Unopened cereal will last for months in the pantry.
